New Mexican Producer: Vinos Zanzonico
Gerard Zanzonico had a 40-year-long career as a winemaker in Napa Valley. He was the winemaker at the prestigious Chateau Montelena, and then at Stonegate Winery, Staglin Family Vineyard, and Del Dotto Vineyards. Four of his wines merited 100 points scores from wine critic Robert Parker.
In 2019, Gerard moved full-time to Baja California and launched Vinos Zanzonico. His world-class premium wines are now available in the shop!

An oaky, ripe fruit chardonnay – complex and full-bodied, that demands attention (and food!). Aged for 12 months in French oak, it shows beautiful deep golden color. A powerful wine, and what a beautiful expression of Mexican Nebbiolo! The Nebbiolo grapes are not picked until they have developed their flavors to their fullest potential and are fully mature, to give the wine all the delicious ripe fruit notes such as cherries, and blueberries, just very juicy. The 24 months of aging in French oak add structure to the wine, and toasty aromas, with tobacco, vanilla, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and spices. Long and dry finish with earthy mushroom and dry fruit. Drink now, or you can age it another 10-15 years and it will only get better.
