In the year of 1987, Rogelio Sánchez del Palacio and Antonio Luis Escalante Domínguez undertook the ambitious project of launching their own winery. It wasn’t until 2001 that they released their first wine under the Roganto label.
The winery is located in the San Jacinto Valley south of Ensenada, B.C. between the valleys of Santo Tomás and San Vicente. It’s in constant expansion, currently with 14 hectares in production and 10 in the process of planting and development.
Roganto takes a very precise and technology-based approach to winemaking, and invested in state-of-art equipment and technology to produce wines that are polished and of consistent quality vintage after vintage.
They produce a couple of affordable blends that are very popular in restaurant wine lists. For the wine shop, we focus on their different monovarietals and their premium “Mezcla Bordalesa” (Cabernet Sauvignon + Merlot blend).
Their white wines are fresh, approachable and easy-drinking, and great examples of the varietals. Their red wines are round and fruit-forward. If you enjoy big California and Chilean reds, the wines from Roganto will be a pleasant surprise.
