Herdade da Farizoa is located in the parish council of Terrugem, in Elvas and lies within the Borba sub-region, one of the three sub-regions of the Alentejo Demarcated Region.

The region´s climate is marked by very hot and dry springs and summers. Annual precipitation is low – approximately 400 mm – and falls primarily in the winter.

Sunlight values are very high, particularly in the 3-month period immediately before the harvest, a fact which contributes to the perfect ripening and quality of the grapes.

Herdade da Farizoa is planted with some of the most typical grapes in the region. Aragonez is a high quality grape variety that is rich in tannins and produces fruity wines (with cherry and blackberry notes) that are aromatic and high in colour. Trincadeira is one of the oldest and most commonly used varieties in the Alentejo, where arid conditions allow it to produce rich, powerful reds, with red fruit flavours and flowers and green herbs notes.

Combining these with other Alentejo grapes, Herdade da Farizoa produces wines of exceptional quality, ideal to accompany meats and cheese.
