La Casa Vieja Mision 2022

MXN $580

Grape: 100% Mision grapes (old vines from dry-farmed vineyards)

Region: San Antonio de las Minas, Baja California, Mexico

Wine Notes: We love this wine! It’s unique and the best t example of Mision wine we have tried. It feels like drinking a little piece of Mexican Wine History (these are some of the oldest vines in the region).

Fruit-forward, balanced, with ripe berries notes and supple acidity; rustic, wild, and a bit musky, yet fresh and lively. It’s got chewy cherry notes with a dash of warm spices for that perfect mix on your palate. The best part, no sulfites were added.

Good to have it with: this is a wine that goes well with a wide range of food but we suggest you get a cheeseboard some nuts and jam and enjoy!

The Producer: La Casa Vieja (Humberto Toscano)

Humberto Toscano grew up in San Antonio de las Miñas on a ranch older than time itself. After a stint in the US, he craved the peaceful life back at the ranch with its ancient vines, untouched by chemicals. Restoring three hectares of vineyards, he creates the most unique wines, all from the ranch’s own fruits. His winemaking style is pure and hands-on – think long macerations, aged in old barrels, and handmade labels. Notably, he keeps it natural – no added SO2 at any point. With old-school Misión and Palomino vines (some might even be 120+ years old), Humberto recently added new Misión and Garnacha vines to the mix.
