Wine Details: Les Vignerons d’Estézargues Domaine d’Andezon Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Signargues
The Domaine d’Andézon is renowned for its deep-rooted commitment to Syrah, which has been the cornerstone of its identity. Since the mid-2000s, the estate has incorporated old Mourvèdre vines into its selection, enhancing the complexity of its wines. The vineyards are situated in the Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation area, characterized by soils rich in rolled pebbles that contribute to the rusticity and generosity of the wines.
Alcohol Grade: 13%
Aging/ Vinification: The winemaking process is designed to highlight the high potential of these grapes. It involves long macerations lasting four weeks, with daily pump-overs and gentle punch-downs to extract the desired compounds. The wine is transferred to barrels early, ideally at the time of racking, to allow malolactic fermentation to occur in the barrels. The aging process lasts approximately 12 months in barrels that have been used for several wines.
Best to have it: Slightly chilled at 16-18°C.
Aging potential: 3-6 years

The Winery: Les Vignerons d’Estézargues
Created in 1965, this Gard cooperative brings together ten winemakers under one roof—each with their own identity and working style. For over twenty years, they’ve chosen to vinify without additives, relying on spontaneous fermentations with no fining or filtration. With a strong shared identity, crafting both specific cuvées (the individual estates) and collaborative ones that unite all our winemakers, guided by our President Frédéric Vincent and our Technical Director Denis Deschamps.
Domaine d’Andezon is one of the member-estates of Les Vignerons d’Estezargues and is unique in the region. While most of the vineyards in the Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Signargues are heavier clays covered with up to a meter of galets formed at the same time as the famed plateaux of galets in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this isn’t the terroir at Andezon. Instead, it is a fine pale sandy and chalky soil that favors Syrah (comprising 90-95% of Andezon in most vintages) in this hot and windy region by giving it an herbal lift and bright acidity.
