Domaine de Mauperthuis Bourgogne Les Brûlis Pinot Noir 2019

MXN $710

Grape: 100% Pinot Noir

Appellation: Bourgogne AOC

Region: Burgundy France

You’ll taste/smell: Smoky, toasty oak with a vibrant core of Burgundy’s Pinot fruit intensity, candied citrus peel, earth, forest floor, and vanilla notes. Complex. The palate is seriously built with substantial tannin, juiciness, and elegant balance. Reds from Chablis (the part of Burgundy where this hails from) used to be feather-light but this is at the full end of medium-bodied and reflects the sun-kissed power of the 2018 vintage.

Good to have it with: simply cooked rare meat rather than heavily charred or sauced; rack of lamb with herb crust, Seared duck breast particularly accented with red fruits like cherries or blackberries

Best to have it: 59-61ºF, 15-16ºC

A family estate created by passionate people, Domaine de Mauperthuis is located in Prehy, nearby Chablis. Their wines express the terroir of this amazing region. Planted here are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, and all the wines are produced in limited quantity and low yields. It is Domaine de Mauperthuis’ mission to provide excellent wines reflecting their commitment to the land and the people working behind the labels.

The Grande Reserve vineyard is located on the western side of Chablis, toward Auxerre. The chalky slopes are very similar to the famous Montee de Tonnerre. It comes from vineyards that were famous in the 19th century that were forgotten and have now been re-planted.
