The Winery: Château Pontac-Monplaisir
Château Pontac-Monplaisir belonged to the Pontac family in the 16th and 17th centuries, which also owned the famous Château Haut-Brion at the time. The Count of Pontac had made of this domain, an appointment of hunting and gastronomy.
At the time of the Revolution, Pontac-Monplaisir was divided and then belonged to several landowners. It was only in 1955 that Jean MAUFRAS, in turn, undertook the reorganization of the vineyard as well as the renovation of all the cellars, to allow bottling at the Château. This property belonging to Mr. Jean and Alain Maufras who perpetuate the family tradition extends over 16 hectares (80% in red and 20% in white) at the gates of the Bordeaux urban area.
