Pijoan Leonora 2017 Cab Sauvignon & Merlot

MXN $860

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot

Region: Valle de Guadalupe, Baja and some of the Cab comes from Valle de la Grulla

You’ll taste/smell: It’s a big and refined red wine that you can drink now, or cellar and watch its growth as it can easily be aged another 10 years.

When you first open the bottle, the wine is super fruit-forward with black fruit, dry fruits and ripe red berries. However, it gets more and more interesting as it opens up: by the time you get to half the bottle, it’s a beautiful mix of spices, tobacco, nuts, cocoa, smoked meat, and more. We guarantee you: each glass gives you a different experience.

Full-body, with marked tannins, and complex. This wine offers an excellent value!

Good to have it with: grilled steaks, baked or sautéed beef, baked lamb, gamey meats; fatty fish: tuna or salmon; aged cheeses. Mexican food: cabrito (lamb over the oven or barbecued), pork carnitas, pork rinds, strong moles etc.

Best to have it: 60-64ºF, 16-18ºC

Description

The first 5 wines from Pijoan pay tribute to the women who shaped Pau Pijoan’s life: his mother, wife and three daughters. In 2008 he created Carmen María, in honor of his sister, and in 2009 he offers Manel, a generous red, in honor of his father. In all cases, Pau seeks that each wine expresses the personality and way of life of each person.

Vinos Pijoan is the result of a dream, of a passion, of a total change of course in a little-expected moment. Since 2002, the family winery has been characterized by its quality and by being a pioneer in the emerging and dynamic Mexican wine scene.
