Nittnaus Zorra Rosé 2021

MXN $715

Grape: 100% Zweigelt

Appellation: Burgenland

Region: Burgenland, Austria

You’ll taste/smell: A beautiful, super dry, and complex rosé! Aromas of red currants, rhubarb, and a sea of wild herbs. Some notes of earthy soil, an aroma rarely found in rosé, but which makes it all the more special and particular. Fine floral aromas give it an elegant fragrance and finesse. A super exciting rosé!

On the palate, it dances on the tongue, a wine that seems cool and fiery at the same time – the red fruit and freshness are on point. Gripping minerality and this earthy note in combination with a low ABV make it impossibly easy to drink.

Good to have it with: this rosé goes great with grilled food particularly, chicken and shrimp.

The Winery: Anita and Hans Nittnaus

Anita and Hans Nittnaus’ philosophy is complete devotion to making wines reflecting the origin and terroir of the area. The vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic methods; hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation and a low intervention approach to winemaking take center stage.

The vineyards are situated in Burgenland, on the northern shore of lake Neusiedl: the eastern side around the town of Gols (clay/loam/gravel/sand) and the western side around the town of Jois on the Leitha mountains (slate/limestone). The winery focuses on red wines and the main varieties are Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and Merlot. The wines represent their unique Pannonian style, characterized by elegance, complexity, and longevity.

The Nittnaus family has been in the town of Gols, in the Neusiedler See wine region in Burgenland since 1684. The current Nittnaus estate was established by Hans’ grandfather Johann Nittnaus in 1927 and was taken over by Anita & Hans in 1985. In a relatively short period of time, Nittnaus became a leading winery in the Neusiedlersee wine region and one of the best wine producers in Austria.
