Savennières Clos du Petit Beaupreau Domaine des Deux Vallées 2021

MXN $1285

Grape: 100% Chenin Blanc

Appellation: Savennières AOP

Region: Loire Valley, France

You’ll taste/smell: full-bodied wine with a powerful nose, and intense aromas of spiced apple tart and floral honeysuckle. Subtly smoky from well-integrated oak. On the palate it’s direct, focused with a beautiful balance, delicate but with great structure and refreshing minerality. Finesse and elegance describe this wine better. Certainly, this is not your average Chenin Blanc.

Good to have it with: the producer suggests pairing it with creamy fish dishes, saffron mussels, dumplings, asparagus velouté, or grilled cauliflower.

The Winery: Domaine Des Deux Vallées

Philippe Sochelau took a massive gamble back in 2001, when he ripped up their Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vines in favor of lesser known Chenin Blanc ones. The bold move paid off and nowadays they are producing some of the top Chenin in the region.

Located between the Loire and Layon, Le Domaine des Deux Vallées produces a wine precisely matched to the quality of the soils on which its vines flourish: Saint Aubin de Luigné, Rochefort sur Loire, Chaume and Savennières.
