There are two questions we hear all the time here at Uncork. The first: Do you ship to the US? (Unfortunately, that’s one we can’t help with).
The second: What red wine would you recommend around $50 for a special occasion?
Finding bottles that feel special and overdeliver on quality is our job after all. So we picked six reds that do just that.
The result? Six bottles that taste far more expensive than they are.

Dominio del Bendito “Buen Rollo” 🇪🇸
Toro is under the radar, but it deserves more attention! it’s a Spanish region making bold Tempranillo that overdeliver almost every single time.
This 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) combines power, structure, and elegance, with rich fruit, floral notes, and smooth tannins despite its 16% alcohol.

Argatia Naoussa Xinomavro 🇬🇷
Often compared to Barolo, Xinomavro offers the same firm structure, vibrant acidity, and age-worthy character—at a price that’s much easier to say yes to.
This flagship bottling from Argatia, aged for 12 months in old oak and released after two years of bottle aging, is one of the best introductions to Greece’s most compelling red grape.

Chateau Roland la Garde Côtes de Bordeaux 🇫🇷
This is a 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon with good aging in bottle to round up the edges. It’s a perfect red for dinner with friends.

Chateau Camou Cabernet Sauvignon 🇲🇽
Baja California’s answer to classic Napa Cabernet.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Camou’s estate in Valle de Guadalupe and aged 24 months in French oak, this is a refined, full-bodied red with layers of ripe fruit, tobacco, spice, and the elegance that proves Mexico can produce world-class Cabernet.

Tedeschi Valpocicella Ripasso Superiore 🇮🇹
The richness of Amarone without the Amarone price tag. Made using the traditional Ripasso method, this Veneto red combines concentrated dark fruit and impressive depth with the freshness and balance of Valpolicella.

Casa da Passarella O Oenólogo Old Vines 🇵🇹
One of the biggest hidden gems we’ve discovered recently.
This is a true old-vine Portuguese field blend: more than 24 indigenous grape varieties growing together in the same 80+ year-old vineyard, just as they have for generations. Instead of highlighting one grape, this wine captures the character of the entire vineyard.
Aged first in cement vats and then for 18 months in large oak casks, it develops remarkable depth while keeping the freshness that makes Dão wines so unique. Wild berries, spice, earth, and a long savory finish — a wine with the kind of individuality you rarely find at this price.
