Description
The Logis de la Bouchardière began growing vines in 1850. Serge developed the estate in the 1960s and 1980s and Bruno, who represents the sixth generation, took over from his father in 1991 to perpetuate the vineyard by combining methods traditional and more modern.
The Domaine de la Haute Olive, located in Chinon, has existed since 1913, joined us in 2006 to ensure the continuity of the vineyard on the side of Bruno’s wife.
All of the two vineyards, which are located in the municipalities of Cravant les Coteaux, Chinon and Panzoult, currently cover 57 ha, 3/4 on hillsides and 1/4 on the plain. The average age of the vines is over 40 years, the oldest are over 80 years old.
The soils, exposed on slopes facing south, are mostly siliceous clay, very arid with a lot of flint (the Clos). Another part of the soil is clay and limestone (the Chêne Vert, les Cornuelles). The last part rather contains alluvium and very dense gravels for the plain.
The cultivation of the vine remains traditional, with the work of the row, while respecting the environment (High Environmental Value standard from the 2019 harvest) and organic conversion on 9 ha.
The wine is aged in vats for young vines and in barrels or in casks for old vines.
The entire vineyard is Cabernet Franc. It is thanks to the diversity of the soils and the age of the vines that we differentiate our cuvées.
