The Winery: Château de Targé
Historic Domaine de Saumur of the Targé family since 1655. Magnificent castle built into the calcareous rock, ideal for having the region’s cépages (Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc).
Paul Pisani-Ferry, an ambitious and passionate young man, studied enology and traveled the world before returning to the winery. He converted the vineyard to organic, not without facing difficulties since 2016 and 2017 were years of hail and diseases. He lost part of his vintage but the quality of his wines rose impressively.
The domain recently celebrated its 350th anniversary and is reinforced with modern facilities which allow them to diversify the methods of winemaking and to enhance this magnificent terroir.
